Welcome to my Lesson Design Portfolio!
These lessons are designed to guide instruction in a way that promotes learning in reading. The emergent literacy design presents ideas for teaching phoneme awareness with a review of letter recognition. The beginning reading design includes ideas for teaching students to decode or spell words. Growing independence and fluency lessons are designed for teaching students to read with automatic word recognition, which enables faster, smoother, more expressive, and silent reading, and which encourages voluntary, avid reading. The reading to learn design is comprised of ideas for teaching vocabulary and comprehension strategies with challenging texts.
